Not getting enough sleep is not okay. The average person is supposed to get seven to nine hours of sleep a night, and lossing those hours is called sleep deprivation. What is sleep deprivation you ask? Sleep deprivation is a condition that occurs if you don't get enough sleep. It occurs if you have one of the following:
During a typical 8 hour sleep period, the normal human mind goes through a cycle of light sleep to a deeper slumber. Going through this cycle is known to leave the body alert and awake in the following morning. Unfortunately, if someone is feeling groggy or tired in the morning chances are that something is interrupting their sleep. Studies have shown that sleep loss usually starts in middle schoolers due to the excessive amounts of homework given. Slowly, as a person's life progresses they lose more and more sleep because of the different events that occur in their life. As told before, sleep deprivation happens due to either a sleep disorder, a distraction or even snoring.
